Todayโ€™s blog covers some of the hottest countries where people donโ€™t even know what a sweater is! The following places are taken into consideration based on the highest temperatures ever recorded. So, without further ado, letโ€™s dig deeper!

1. Mali

mali

According to the survey, this country is known to be the hottest country to date with the highest-ever temperature of 54 degrees Celsius. And why wouldnโ€™t it be the hottest when all of its northern parts are nothing but the famous Sahara Desert!

The high temperature is explained by its geographical location. Mali is a landlocked country, surrounded by Senega and Mauritania bordering Burkina Faso.

Even after being one of the largest African countries, Mali is sparsely populated concentrating near the Niger river. The reason behind this is that the Niger river is the main source of their trade and economy. The main occupation of the residents of Mali is agriculture and cattle herding along with fishing being one of their important activities.

Being inside the intertropical area, the country experiences a majorly experiences a hot and humid climate. The whole year has been divided into seasons where the wet season lasts for only 4 months and the rest 8 months is the dry season.

2. Nigeria

Nigeria

Among the rest of the countries on this list, Nigeria is the most populated one. With over 220 million people, Nigeria has become one of the most populated nations worldwide. Therefore, it is quite obvious that with so many people around one just cannot stay cool! Apart from having diversity in its geographical features, the major diversity lies in its people.

It is also one of the west African countries where people speak a lot of languages depending on their tribes. More than 250 ethnic groups are assumed to live here inhabiting a particular area or territory.

The northern and southern parts have distinct physical features which mark them separate from each other. Among all the regions, the Southern part is economically stable.

The climate of Nigeria depends on the area that we are talking about. For the good part of the year, the southeast region stays hot and wet where as the southwest portion is predominantly dry in nature. The north and west favor a savanna type of vegetation and climate while the far north has a steppe climate.

3. Iraq

Iraq

7 years back, the city of Basra in Iraq was known to record a temperature of 55 degrees Celsius, the highest to date! Although it shares the same latitude as the United States but the summers here can be unbearably hot. However, some of the cities maintain a moderate temperature and are not as hot as Basra.

Iraq is a part of western Asia and the easternmost country among all the other Arab countries. The countries surrounding it from all sides are Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Joran, and Turkey. Being an almost landlocked country, the people there have very less access to water bodies.

The climatic province of Iraq is divided into two portions, one is the lowlands and the alluvial plains which have a hot and arid climate throughout the year and the other is the northeastern portion which stays damp because of the elevations in that area. These elevations are a major factor in the precipitation which consequently helps in agriculture.

4. Thailand

thailand

Thailand is the first-ever country from Southeast Asia to have made it into the list with an average temperature of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius. Nobody could believe it when the mercury hit 40 degrees in summer in the year of 2016! Therefore, you can never predict when the tropical climate will suddenly change and act in a completely different manner.

The essence of southeast Asia lies in Thailand with Bangkok being the heart of the country. Thailand is primarily divided into two parts where the northern part is the larger main section and the southern part is just a smaller extension of it. The whole of the peninsular region is under the country till the border of its neighboring country, Malaysia.

Till the month of September Thailand experiences a humid air mass that flows towards the northeastern portion and is responsible for a huge amount of precipitation.

But between November to February, we see a change in the direction of the wind to the southwest, and the texture of the air also changes to that of a dry one. The fluctuations in temperature are predominant in the northern part of the country.

The Marshall Islands

Along with being one of the warmest nations in the world, it is also a very remote nation. Not many people want to go and settle there. Because of the problems in transportation and its remote location, many of the islanders have been packing up their bags.

The Marshall Islands are surrounded by the countries of Kiribati, Nauru, and Wake Island. Although it is a single country, this archipelago is composed of more than 180 coral atolls.

This nation does not receive much rainfall ranging between 25 to 25 inches annually. Mainly, the vegetation is full of breadfruit trees and coconut trees. Rainfall is only seen during October and November.

7. Mauritania

Mauritania

As because this country is surrounded by deserts, the reason for it being on this list is very evident. For the good part of the year, the temperature stays under control but when that hot and dry wind of the desert hits Nouakchott, the capital city, wearing a plain tank top becomes the most painful job for an individual.

Mauritania acts as a linking bridge between Northern Africa and the western portion of the Sahara. It lies on the Atlantic coast of Africa having huge storage of very important minerals such as Gypsum, iron ore, and much more.

The arid trade winds blow continuously in the north across the country and the effect of this wind is intensified by the Harmattan which is discussed in detail under Togo. As expected the area, receives scanty rainfall throughout the whole year.

Ghana which is located on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea was the first ever African nation to bring back its independence from colonial rule. Besides having a large diversity, Ghana is also famous for its super interesting history which will keep you hooked for hours!

The climate of Ghana is influenced by two air masses, one being formed over the Sahara and the other being formed over the South Atlantic. The place witnessing the convergence of these two winds faces squall precipitation.

Tuvalu

The highest-ever temperature recorded in this tiny country was above 41 degrees celsius and the average temperature revolves around 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. It is situated in the west of Africa with Lome being its capital. It is made up of six distinct geographical regions and is highly valued for its rich phosphate reserves. Togo derives its economy through the export of cocoa beans, coffee, and peanuts.

Togo maintains a tropical climate as compared to other African nations. The coastal area of Togo is the driest area within the nation receiving only 890 mm of rain annually and the inland receives rainfall of as much as 1800 mm per year. During the dry period, a dust-laden wind known as the Harmattan dominates across the nation.
